Description

1. Man has five fingers on each hand, and each finger has a nail.
2. He broke one of his (finger)nails.

Common term for fingernails (not toenails). The original Swadesh wordlist had ‘claw’ (=of animals), but this has on practice been replaced by ‘nail’ quite a long time ago. (Kassian et al. 2010)
