Description

1. We have to burn fuel (wood) all night long, so as to have light and warmth.
2. Why are you burning your clothes?
3. The fire is burning strongly.

Primary meaning is transitive but both transitive and intransitive uses should be elicited, with cases where different morphemes are employed being marked accordingly. To be distinguished from both inchoatives like ‘to set on fire’ and “emphatic perfectives” like ‘to burn down’. (Kassian et al. 2010)
