Comment: Skjærvø (1989:405 [Compendium Linguarum Iranicarum]) takes this form from *pastrā-, which he takes to be a verbal derivative of OIr *pat- 'go' (a "Daevic" form). Formally, *pastrā- could also come from *pad-trā, which would make it cognate with all other Iranian forms continuing *pad- 'foot', but given the presence of "tool" suffix -tra-, S's derivation *pat-trā- 'go-er' => *pastrā- makes more sense compositionally.
