Comment: From Proto-Celtic *u̯ridā 'root', PIE *u̯re(h₂)d- 'root' (IEW 1167). "The Brittonic words presuppose *wridā (Breton), or *wradi- (Welsh). The form *wradi- presumably has the secondary full grade of the root instead of the expected *wredi-."
