Comment: The Germanic verbs and probably the Old Prussian one belong to *tens- 'to pull' (LIV 629). They do not belong in the same class as the Slavic ones which Derksen derives from *tengÊ°- (not contained in LIV). LIV points out that the root *tens- could originate from the desiderative of *ten- 'wanting to stretch'. If this was the case, *tens- was perceived as an independent neo-root already in Late PIE.
