Pages: View The etymology with Greek ξηρός /cognate/1471/ is usually doubted because one normally expects Armenian cʻ from PIE *ks, *sk, but Martirosyan considers (s.v. čʻir, čʻor) a viable comparison with Greek ξηρός, arguing (2.1.12) that čʻ- is the correct reflex of *ks- in initial position.
