Notes etym. dub. (Buck 1949: 959)
Citation: Matasović, Ranko (2009) Etymological Dictionary of Proto-Celtic. Leiden: Brill. Pages: 218-19 View From Proto-Celtic *kotto- 'old'. "According to Sims-Williams (2006: 67) Cat. cot 'hill', Sp. cueto are from the Gaulish reflex of this word. The semantic development was presumably from 'old' to 'curved, humpbacked hillock'. In any case, these words are probably of non-IE origin."
